Sugar Scoop Addition
We used laminate sheets to extend the hull shape back. The 2x4s you see were glassed to the hull.
The strips of cardboard were glased over to form strength to the laminate "mold". The transom was left intact - although the outer edge was sanded a bit of an angle to add more purchase to it at that point. The laminate mold was waxed then roving laid up. The thickness was nominally 1/2".
The sugarscoop bottom and the steps were mocked up and then glass laid down. To obtain the thickness of the trailing edge, a 1' foam filler was applied and then glassed over. The groove was added to assist in grabbing the hull when boarding. The inside and out was faired and then sprayed with gelcoat and sanded to match the boat.
